2014 SCORE San Felipe 250
Tavo Vildosola Victorious at 2014 Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250
The 2014 Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 will go down in the record books as one to remember. The race started out with a gnarly rain delay as the torrential downpours not only created rivers throughout the race course but caused mud to pile up to five feet at the Summit. Roger Norman, SCORE Owner, made the call to delay the race while he rerouted the course. The bikes and quads were stopped at RM 179 by officials who manually recorded their times. SCORE allowed the bikes/quads to fuel while stopped but were not allowed to work on their motos.
The 4 wheel vehicle’s were delayed two hours while SCORE officials rerouted the course. Shortly after the start of the 4-wheel vehicles reports came in that Juan C Lopez, third off the line, had crashed at RM 3. The start would be delayed once again… With BJ Baldwin and Rob MacCachren out front the rest of the trophy truck field had their work cut out for them.
At the half way point it was Tavo Vildosola who had the crowd on their toes. Vildosola started 20th out of 21 Trophy Trucks and was on a mission to get to the checkered flag before his rivals. Despite the fact that BJ Baldwin, Rob MacCachren, Juan C Lopez and Troy Herbst finished in front of him Vildosola set the fastest time for todays revised 210/215 mile SCORE San Felipe race.
The rain sure did flip both Baja California & Southern California upside down with this big storm that hit here this weekend.
Congrats goes out to Tavo Vildosola and his entire team for beating Baja and claiming victory here this weekend.
