Extremeion Carbon Raptor® Diamond-Like Carbon Coating delivers Race-Proven Performance improvements for Motorcycle Fork Tubes and Shock Shafts

Denver, NC (May 13, 2008) – Extremeion Carbon Raptor, a proprietary diamond-like carbon coating (DLC), is used by AMA Supercross and Motocross champions to improve handling and increase fork tube and shock shaft component life. The Carbon Raptor Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition (PACVD) process coats component surfaces with a carbon film to reduce friction and surface wear. Carbon Raptor is highly flexible, won’t break off, and is known to be the highest hardness and lowest friction DLC available. Carbon Raptor increases suspension response by reducing sticking and sliding friction of the forks and shocks. Components are also made resistant to scratches and nicks, which extends service life and shock seal longevity. Learn more at www.extremeion.com.

About Extremeion

Extremeion is the racing division of Anatech LTD. Over the years Anatech LTD has produced parts enhancement technology for some of the best teams in motorsports. Top teams in NASCAR, IRL, NHRA, AMA and other racing sanctions realize performance gains when using Extremeion Carbon Raptor.

Carbon Raptor provides a high hardness and low friction surface to help components overcome the friction as well as surface wear limitations of their materials. By reducing friction, galling, and surface-wear the performance and service life of components are increased. Parts that had to be replaced after one race are now routinely performing for two to three races. Additionally, reductions in sliding friction between components allows for a more smooth and fluid operating action.

Carbon Raptor is differentiated from other high hardness coatings by using a Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition process to achieve a superior combination of high hardness and low friction. Carbon Raptor applies to steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum and other non-porous metals. Application thickness is 2 to 4 microns (80 to 160 millionths in.) so no changes are needed for component dimensions. Carbon Raptor applies with an even thickness over a 3-dimensional component to provide uniform performance on all component surfaces and preserve surface geometry. The coating conforms to surfaces with no post-coating finishing needed, and maintains the finish of polished surfaces. Carbon Raptor is highly adhesive and can withstand high contact stress with no delaminating. It is very flexible, will not flake off, and wears as microscopic carbon. Carbon Raptor also conducts heat away from component surfaces, thereby reducing the potential for overheating and galling.

Popular uses for Extremeion Carbon Raptor include engine valves, valve spring retainers, camshafts, piston wrist pins, axle pinion gears, transmissions, and shifters. Carbon Raptor is also frequently used with motorcycle fork tubes and shock shafts.

Non motorsports use includes medical devices and pipe bending tools.
