BEBO CROWNED OVERALL & SCORE Trophy Truck WINNER!

San Diego, California (January 17, 2010) Andy McMillin, the SCORE Baja 1000 Champion, returned to racing action kicking off the season with a commanding victory at the 2010 SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge. Held along the banks of the famed Colorado River, the San Diego racer beat an elite field of 28 racers entered in the SCORE Trophy Truck class.

The two day combined race event was held over a brutal 6.25-mile race course that tested every aspect of man and machine. Andy McMillin averaged 49.16 miles per hour and had a total time of 2 hours, 2 minutes and 3 seconds driving his McMillin Realty Ford F-150 to the overall victory. He began Sunday’s race setting the fastest lap of the day with the 7 minute,10 second lap. Andy went on to win the first SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge race of his career.

 

Robert Ross crosses the finish line first but Kory Halopoff is too close and finishes only 1 minute behind so UNOFFICIALLY Kory Halopoff will be your Class 1 winner here in Laughlin. Last year teammate Harley Letner took the win and this year it's Kory's turn!!!

120 of Richard Boyle pulls off to the side at the S/F and looks to be out of the race unless the co-driver can get it fixed. He is trying so we will have to wait and see.

Robert Ross has 1 more lap to make up 1 minute and 30 seconds on Kory. Can he pull it off?

113 - Ronny Wilson out of the race.

100 - Randy Wilson out of the race.

Justin Smith in the #104 COPS Racing Class 1 makes it back to the S/F but he is now 3 laps behind the lead pack.

Josh Daniel out of the hunt for the win as he has yet to come by on the lead lap. Robert Ross moves back into the lead 30 seconds in front of Kory Halopoff. In order for Ross to take the win he will have to cross the finish line 2 minutes and 8 seconds in front of Kory, which puts Kory in the lead by corrected time with two laps to go.

Max Theriot in the #103 TSCO car comes through on the lead lap but the car is just not sounding right.

Josh Daniel moves into the lead with Robert Ross in second.

Max Theriot running strong in the TSCO Class 1 ahead of team owner Mark Weyrich. 147 - Louie Serna out of the race and the #104 of Dan Martin being driven by Justin Smith has yet to finish a lap.

Kory Halopoff started out the day with a 1 second lead over Dan Martin and is holding onto the lead strong, Josh Daniel currently running second and Dan McMillin close behind.

Class 1's are off the line...

Andy McMillin takes the SCORE Trophy Truck win for this years 2010 Laughlin Desert Challenge. It looks like Corey Sheeler will take second and Nick Vanderway in third for the weekend. These trucks put on a show for their fans this weekend and you can be sure the #31 McMillin Homes truck of Andy McMillin will be a top contender all season long.

Robbie Pierce had the fastest elapsed time for the day, finishing in first for the day but unfortunately that won't be enough since they DNF'd yesterday. The times for the weekend are combined for an overall finish.

1 lap to go and it looks like Robbie Pierce has moved into the lead on corrected time for the day. Andy still has him on the lead for the weekend but Pierce is ahead for the day.

Pete Sohren is holding his 2nd place but having major issues as he puts around the course throwing popping noises out of the motor. Cameron Steele makes up time on Sohren as he pulls up to the bumper.

BJ Baldwin out of the race officially with a blown transmission. Robbie Pierce making a move on the #9 Weyhrich truck over the hill on a mission to get to the front of the pack. Joey Westhoff in the right seat of that truck guiding him around the track.

Robby Gordon pulls into the hot pits with a flat tire. The #1 Monster crew gets the tires changed and puts Gordon back on the track.

Andy McMillin making his way through the infield to complete his third lap with Pistol Pete in second. Cameron Steele has moved his way from 15th position to 3th place with 1/3 of the race to go behind Andy in first and Pete Sohren

After two laps McMillin holds his lead. BJ Baldwin has yet to complete 1 lap and must be having major problems. He is out of the hunt for a win here at Laughlin.

  • Andy McMillin pulls into the lead and Sohren is only 11 seconds behind. Those two have a huge 1.30 lead over Scheeler in third.
  • #8 Norman just rolled over in the infield
  • Clyde Stout has fuel pouring out of his truck and looks to have some broken suspension parts

  • Scott Whipple has problems off the start in the #95 Canadai truck but gets it going and heads out onto the course.
  • Robby Gordon and Clyde Stout side by side off the start. Gordon starts to push his way into Stout and bangs fenders pushing Stout out of the way. Stout fights back and passes Gordon after the first jump heading out of the infield.

Justin Davis moves into the lead but only seconds separate him and the #1216 of Villagomez. We have already seen a ton of carnage happen and take many drivers out of the race. Daniel Folts raced in the Green Army car yesterday and handed the driving duties to Justin Davis today who has moved them into the lead today with only 1 lap to go.

Justin Smith back in the race as he finally makes it back to the S/F with a newly ziptie'd on roof.

Unofficially Cody Freeman in the lead on corrected time. Smith is way down on time as his team tries to fix his roof that fell off also!!

#1217 of Jake Jones rolled and also lost his roof. SCORE officials have pulled him over to the side at S/F and he is not allowed to leave until his team gets here with somehting to use as a roof.

#1213 of Huerta lost his roof once again!! His team is here at S/F attemping to fix a makeshift roof so he can get back on the course.

SCORE officials stopped Justin Smith in the Hot Pits as something wasn't safe on his car. We are sending our reporters to get the scoop now. #1213 of Huerta was stopped at S/F because his roof fell off and unsafe to race w/o one. Huerta had to wait for his crew to find the roof and bring it back and strap it on the car.

Jessica McMillin started the race and stopped in the hot pits and handed the driving duties over to Todd Tenbroek, co-driver for Andy McMillin in the Trophy Truck.

Mike Lawrence continues to lead Class 10 while Villagomez sets the pace in SCORE Lite in front of Davis who made his way back in front of Smith. Running order after 1 lap: 1. VILLAGOMEZ 2. DAVIS 3. SMITH 4. LAUGHLIN 5. WATSON 6. PARKHOUSE 7. FREEMAN 8. LANGLEY 9. HUERTA 10. CODY PARKHOUSE

1003 of Greenhill has a broken right front end and is out of the race.

1003 - David Greenhill pulls off the course into the infield as he has problems

801 of Juan Lopez finishes first in Class 8 while 721 Reid Rutherford takes the win in Class 7-2.

604 - Robert Pickering pulls in first in Class 6

9:12 - Lopez leads the Class 8's while Robert Pickering sets the pace in Class 6 over Dave Caspino and Marc Burnett.

The start for today's race will go as follows. If the class had 10 or more finishers in yesterday's race SCORE will draw for the starting positions. If the class has less than 10 finishers then they will start in the order that they finished yesterday. This pertains to all classes EXCEPT SCORE Trophy who will all start in the order they finished yesterday.
