Gustavo Vildolsola JR Finishes Round One
on Top After Rolling Hard During Qualifying
LVDC's Pat Dean Comes out on Top for Saturday's
Racing Action
4:06PM - Harley Letner seems to be out of the race as
Pat Dean crosses the finishline first with Letner nowhere
in sight.
- Dean finished out front with the next
Class One car of teammate BJ Richardson close behind
- Ebberts who started last worked his way
to a top three finish
3:49PM - The current physical running order is as follows,
Harley Letner, Pat Dean, BJ Richardson, Steve Martz, Steve
Barry, Dale Ebberts
- Billy Gasper, who was leading the entire
field is out of the hunt as he doesn't make it to start
his sixth lap due to a blown belt. They didn't have a spare
on the car so they are towing it back to the main pit and
are out of the race.
3:42PM - Billy Gasper seems to have the entire field on
corrected time. Gasper started 15th and is currently running
3rd physically.
- #117 All German Motorsports trying to
keep the car running with a bad clutch
3:37PM - Danny Anderson flies high on the last turn as
the rear end looked to be smoking
- All German Auto Team of Armin Schwarz/
Martin Christensen report that their clutch is slipping
- Eric Chase driving the #124 pulled off
the course just after starting his 4th lap, had a few problems
but got going again
- #129 rented Playtech class one is being
driven by Adam Householder, just pulled off the course and
is out of the race after completing one lap
3:29PM - Letner is making up time on the rest of the field,
as he exits the field the next car of Pat Dean is just making
his way into the infield
- #102 of Byron Ashley never made it back
to complete a second lap
3:23PM - Las Vegas' Pat Dean is on the pipe as is Dale
Ebberts who started last and is making his way to the top
3:14PM - Harley Letner who was first off the line is taking
advantage of the clean air. Letner has a one minute lead
on the next car of Pat Dean.
- Luis Ramirez JR, out of Cabo San Lucas,
physically crossed the line in third. Following him closely
are Scott Schovajsa, Steve Barry, Steve Martz, BJ Richardson,
and Armin Schwarz

2:27PM -Rich Ronco in the #45 Tatum Motorsports
Truck took the checkered flag first but Gustavo Vildolsola
JR comes out on top after day one
2:03PM -Pete Sohren just broke in the
middle of the infield, it looks like it was a tranny or
motor
2:01PM -Josh Baldwin blew the motor on
his new Geiser built Trophy Truck with only one lap to go.
Josh is at staging now getting ready to hop in his Class
1
1:57PM -Gus Vildolsola JR currently in
3rd place, we talked to his team earlier this morning and
and they commented that he was ready to rock and roll
1:53PM -BJ Baldwin still holds the physical
lead.
- Travis Coyne seems to have broken the
ring and pinion as he pulls off the course just past the
Start/ Finish
- Post broke off the back of the tranny
and is officially out of the race
Mastercraft CEO Robby Pierce and co-driver
Joey Westhoff make their way around the course for a strong
7th place finish
1:46PM -BJ Baldwin back in the lead as
Brian Collins is confirmed out of the race.
- Carl Renezeder is also confirmed out
of the race
1:41PM -Pistol Pete Sohren, who is driving
this race solo, makes his way around the track for the first
time, he's 6 laps down from the leaders. If he were to have
a flat that would definately take some time to change all
by himself.
1:39PM -The leaders are going out on
their last lap, Brian Collins takes the lead with Josh Baldwin
and BJ Baldwin on his heels. Both Baldwins came in side
by side as Josh pulled ahead off the start.
1:37PM -Robby Gordon is back in the race
as he makes his way around the infield. Robby had some down
time but is determined to finish the race and make up some
time.
1:35PM -The miracle out here this afternoon
is the #4 Vildolsola Racing Trophy Truck that suffered a
horrible crash yesterday during qualifying. The crew spent
a number of hours putting the truck back together and making
sure it was race ready.
1:33PM -BJ Baldwin moves his way into
the top spot as the leaders fall out of the race in front
of him. They need to keep the truck together in order to
keep their lead position going into the final race tomorrow
afternoon.
1:30PM -It seems that when the tranny
broke in the #40 Chet Huffman truck the tranny came apart
and hit Jerry Whelchel in the foot. He will be okay but
is suffering some minor injuries.
1:25PM -Robby Gordon seems to be out
of the race as he does NOT come back to the infield
- Jerry Whelchel leading the Trophy Trucks
until he crosses the start/ finish and breaks the tranny!
- Todd Wylie who was right behind Whelchel
and rolled his truck right in front of the crowd
- Carl Renezeder is broken and out of the
race
- Clyde Stout makes his way back from main
pit and onto the course to try to stay on the lead lap
1:17PM -Trophy Trucks are going out on
their third lap in this order, Robby Gordon, BJ Baldwin,
Jerry Whelchel, Todd Wylie, Brian Collins, Josh Baldwin,
Kory Scheeler, Mark Post
- Clyde Stout came in hot into the start/
finish line with a left rear flat. Stout and his co-driver
had to pull off the course and change it themselves as there
is no way they would have made it to the hot pits. The two
pull off the track and back to main pit as the jack on the
truck didn't work.
1:09PM -Robby Gordon first thru on lap
1, with a 1 minute lead on Carl Renezeder
- BJ Baldwin is on a mission and only 5
seconds behind Carl
- Jerry Whelchel driving the #40 Chet Huffman
machine follows BJ, with Todd Wylie, Brian Collins and Mark
Post on their bumper
1:00PM -With only a second between them
during qualifying Mark Post and Robby Gordon took of side
by side, never letting off Gordon got the holeshot.
Chris Harrold Holds onto the
Lead in Class 10 while Noe/Watson Fight Take the Top Spot
in SCORE Lite
11:53AM -Dave Callaway slides into the
start/finish only seconds in front of Watson/Noe but lost
first gear, which let Noe got out in front. He got it going
again and came in 2nd unofficially
11:39AM -George Seeley is out in front
of the other two Class 5 cars, with a minute lead over Carlos
Albanez and Kevin Carr
- Chris Harrold and Larry Job are the ones
to beat in this heat. They are two minutes ahead of Robert
McBeath in the #1001.
11:31AM -Chris Harrold in the #1007 has
a one minute physical lead on the entire field.
- Larry Job, who started 30 seconds behind
Chris will have to put his foot to the floor in the next
few laps to make up some time.
- #1011 makes his way back from the pits
to the start line, he will try to make up as many laps as
possible in the alloted time.
11:15AM -#1011 of David Rodriguez is limped
his way around the track and pulled off at the start/ finish
area
11:09AM -Bill Hernquist is physically
leading in SCORE Lite class, with Dave Callaway, Flavio
Navarro and Rick St. John on his tail.
11:00AM -Chris Harrold driving the #1007
Alumicraft/Honda/FOX Racing Shox Class 10 is running up
front. Harrold started 7th and was the first one to go out
on his second lap.
- Harrold was followd closely by Robert
McBeath, Jesse McClain & Brendan Fikes
10:46AM -Group 3, Class 10, SCORE Lite,
and Class 5 will do 7 laps. They are staged and ready to
take off at 11:00AM.
Juan Lopez Leads Class Eights as Todd Wylie
Falls Off the Pace
9:45AM -Todd Wylie doesn't make it back
to the infield on his last lap, Juan Lopez takes the checkered
flag with no other trucks in sight.
9:30AM -Todd Wylie and Juan Lope are
banging fenders on the infield. They both want that top
spot and neither one is letting off the throttle.
- Heidi Steele holds her own against the
entire field as she comes into the infield missing fenders
9:15AM -Todd Wylie has the clean air
out there, trying to hold onto the lead as Juan Lope is
right on his tail.
- The #1504 Tropy Lite of Brian Freemal
is out running in the Sportsman Truck class. This is the
first SCORE race that any of the Trophy Lite's have been
entered.
9:00AM -Group 2 - Class 8, Protruck,
7SX, Stock Full, Stock Mini, Class 3 and Sportsman Trucks
off the line here in Laughlin
Cory Boyer Takes the Lead Over
Pfankuch by One Second for Saturday's Race
8:15AM -Despite the fact that Adam Pfankuch
was out front all day, Cory Boyer beat his overal time by
one second. The two will start side by side for the final
verdict tomorrow morning.
8:05AM -Rulo Solano and Brent Shermak
never came back on their last lap to finish. The two were
racing side by side in the front the entire race and both
did not finish. Brent Shermak pulled into the hot pits with
motor problems, but it is unknown at this time what sidelined
Rulo Solano.
7:57AM -Edgar Avalos out of Texas makes
his way to the finishline here in Laughlin
7:56AM -#1617, #1602 and #1604 cross
the finishline
7:55AM -Adam Ashcraft comes in two minutes
behind Pfankuch
7:54AM -Dave Caspino, Javier Velenzuela,
#1615( late entry) cross the finish line
7:53AM -Adam Pfankuch crosses the finish
line first with over a minute lead on the rest of the pack
7:45AM -Dave Caspino and Adam Pfankuch
make their way to the start finish side by side
- Javier Velenzuela driving the #1606 Vildolsola
Racing machine is keeping his own and currently fourth by
physical position
7:39AM -Adam Pfankuch has put one minute,
physically, on the next car of Jeff Calhoun. Adam started
mid pack and thanks to his Major Performance motor is flying
around the track.
7:33AM -With three laps down and three
to go, Adam Pfankuch has a huge lead. Adam started ninth
and is now in first and pulling away from everyone.
- Brent Shermak and Rulo Solono came in
side by side both vying for the lead spot leaving the infield.
- Only a few minutes behind Rulo is the
#551 of Patrick Dailey. Rulo Solono and the rest of the
crew at ORAF just finished building this car a few weeks
ago. ORAF has three 5/1600 on the track, all which are running
up front.
7:24AM -1-2/1600's are off the line followed
by 5/1600, Class 11 and Sportsman. Adam Pfankuch is back
behind the wheel of a 1-2/1600 for this race and will be
looking to make his way to the front of the pack.
- DIRTnewz staffers spoke with ORAF's Rulo
Solono who was buckling into his newly built 5/1600. Rulo
told us that they just finished the car last week and only
have a few prerun laps on it but they are ready to rock
and roll.
- SCORE officials pulled Kelly Renezeder
off the line as the green flag was about to wave. They were
uncertain if her car had gone thru tech. They let her start
but she was delayed due to the misunderstanding.
