MacCachren Dominates CORR Round 5 In Saturday Pro 2 Finale
CORR Pro 2 Round 5 Saturday Audio Webcast Replay
Chula Vista, Calif., (June 9, 2007) –It was a wild race as Rob MacCachren fought off the charges from Ricky Johnson, Carl Renezeder and Scott Taylor to take the victory here today at The Rock. Rob Mac had to battle not only the competition, but also some truck gremlins that put him behind several times including once under the yellow flag. Rob Mac was stalled on the hill heading into Turn 3 as the field passed him under the yellow, but he was able to fire up the #29 Red Bull truck and make his way to the front of the pack before the green flag dropped.

After the green dropped, it was no looking back as Rob Mac ran away from the field to capture victory over Ricky Johnson and Scott Taylor. Listen to the re-webcast of the race here at DIRTnewz by clicking on the link above.

Chula Vista, Calif., (June 9, 2007) –The 2006 Pro-Lite Crandon World Champion, Rodrigo Ampudia, waged war with the best in the Pro Lite field (minus Chad Hord & Jeff Kincaid) to take victory here at The Rock in Chula Vista. Ampudia drove hard all race and beat out the likes of Kyle LeDuc, Casey Currie, Josh Hintz, Jeff Geiser, Jeff Huseman, Rob Naughton to claim victory here in the first Pro Lite race at The Rock in Chula Vista.
The race was not without carnage as fiberglass body parts flew all over the race course as racers battled door-to-door. Rob Naughton took the early lead over the entire field and began to run away with it until he suffered what has been speculated to be a motor gone south. Kyle LeDuc marched a challenge against the new leader, Rodrigo Ampudia, and it appeared that he was making up time on the leader until he pulled off the race track just after turn two and that was the end of the day for LeDuc.

Jeff Huseman and Josh Hintz ran fast throughout the race running beneath the radar as Jeff Geiser stuck the front of his truck into the melee several times only to be turned back.
In the end it was all about the victory of Mexico's Ampudia who lives in Rosito, Baja California, a mere 35 miles from The Rock at Chula Vista.
Cenni Versus Renezeder In The Last Lap - Renezeder VICTORIOUS
CORR Chula Vista Event Coverage - Video Interviews - CORR

Chula Vista, Calif., (June 9, 2007) – Adrian Cenni battled to the front of the pack in the Wild-Wild CORR Pro 4 race taking the lead and running fast to the finish line, but not before he was slowed by George Reese driving a truck that was several laps down. Renezeder and Cenni flew over the big jump and they found George Reese driving the #41 Pro 4 going much slower. Cenni chose the outside line and Renezeder took the inside line and that decided the race because Reese also went wide and blocked Cenni from capturing his first victory of the season. Afterwards, Cenni told the packed grandstands that he didn't have words for what happened. Renezeder celebrated his second win of the day and the talk is that perhaps Renezeder could win the final Pro 2 race of the day and claim a big sweep on Saturday.

Renezeder WINS Jason Baldwin Memorial CUP Race at The Rock

Chula Vista, Calif., (June 9, 2007) –Carl Renezeder beat Rob MacCachren and the rest of the CORR Race Nation in the first pro truck race of the weekend. Renezeder battled with MacCachren back and forth all the while Ricky Johnson attempted several charges that resulted in a third place finish for the SuperCross Superstar.

Rob MacCachren passed Carl Renezeder two different times taking the lead, but each time Rob Mac fell off the pace obviously suffering from some sort of ignition/electrical gremlins that sidelined the past CORR Champion from maintaining the lead. Todd LeDuc finished the race, but not after suffering his own problems after about 6 laps. LeDuc, driving the Rockstar Energy Drink, truck ran fast in several laps before he suffered an unknown issue and pulled off near the pit zone. The CORR 6-time champion, Scott Taylor, was all smiles before the race as he looked into the packed grandstands of some 12,000 plus fans. Taylor immediately took to the forefront in the wild start and he stayed in front for 5 laps pushing his Skyjacker Ford hard, but it wasn't enough to fend off Carl Renezeder.
Whelchel,Taylor, McGrath, MacCachren & LeDuc Slated for Race Wars Here in CORR Saturday Race Action
Chula Vista, Calif., (June 9, 2007) – Skyjacker's Scott Taylor wasted no time acquainting himself with the dirt here at The Rock, as Taylor's practice session turned dramatic when he rolled it over putting the Skyjacker Pro 2 on the lid in Turn 6 after the Ski Jump. Taylor scrambled out of the truck as the truck smoked with his BFGoodrich wheels facing into the sky and the 6-time CORR Champion on his lid.

Some of the other Pro 2's didn't fair well either as Jesse Jones, driving the #76 Pro 2, once again experienced ignition / fuel delivery problems in his FABTECH Pro 2. Jones had problems during Friday's practice and it did not appear that the truck ran any better throughout Saturday morning's practice.
Jerry Whelchel and Carl Renezeder ran near flawlessly as they showed the growing crowd what the races will feature later in the day. The race track is impressive as it runs down the front stretch over the triple studderbumps that forces the drivers to slow down. During Friday's race action drivers were terrorized by a "fourth" bump that tested the patience of many drivers. Well, apparently the complaining by several drivers worked as CORR track officials removed the fourth bump early this morning resulting in a less harsh front stretch. Turn 1 and Turn 3 feature 30 degree angled turns, and yes we did not make a mistake in that number. These two turns are approximately 30 degrees in side angle....This track at just under 1 mile in length is expected to produce some incredible racing action.

Pro racing action is slated to start at 2:00 PST and DIRTnewz will have the action for you with the live webcast featuring PISTOL Pete Sohren and DIRTnewz' Tim Sanchez in the booth from high atop the stands here at The Rock!
