Chula Vista, Calif., (June 9, 2007) – The Rock took its toll on the CORR Racing Nation this afternoon as practice kicked off at 3:00 p.m. under gorgeous sunny skies here on the Pacific Coast. The nation's top racers have assembled for what is expected to be a huge weekend of racing as Championship Off Road Racing is set to host thousands of race fans in their new location that DIRTnewz Staffers have dubbed "The Rock."
It was only a couple months ago when the debate between CORR and WSORR was the fuel of the racing nation as the midwest racers and the west coast racers had to make the decision whether to race CORR or WSORR. Some chose WSORR, although the majority came to the CORR season opener in Antelope Valley, California and we're stunned by the vision of Jim Baldwin.

CORR Racing announced it's arrival at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds and backed up that award winning performance with a huge success at the Los Angeles County Fairplex. The LA Fairplex event stuffed nearly 25,000 fans into the grandstands as the CORR Racing Nation led by Ricky Johnson, Carl Renezeder, Johnny Greaves, Jerry Whelchel, Rob MacCachrena and NASCAR's Robby Gordon left the crowds of Los Angeles with their jaws in the dirt.
Well, guess what? If you thought Antelope Valley was good. And then we trounced to LA Fairplex for that extravaganza and that was off the hook. Now we are here at CORR's home track, a location that was envisioned and built by Jim Baldwin and his CORR staff.

DIRTnewz has affectionately named it "The Rock." Some posers through out some other names including one circulating called "The Quarry." This location is the so-called "old quarry," but in the racing world names mean everything.
CORR racers are some of the toughest in the off road world and racing at a location named, "The Rock," seems fitting!
Friday's practice was wild as the convergeance of the nation big dawg racers ran through the paces here at The Rock. The race course features two massive elevation changes and a huge jump similar to the race course at Bark River, Michigan all in front of the grandstands. Coming out of turn one is a series of four studder bumps that are big and tested the patience of many of the Pro 2's and Pro 4's.
The Pro 2 class featured smooth lines by Rob MacCachren, Jerry Whelchel, Todd LeDuc and Scott Taylor, while the rest of the field worked out the kinks enroute to a successful practice. Scott Taylor drove his Skyjacker Pro 2 to a very successful practice as he announced his arrival to the 2007 CORR season after racing the first race of the 2007 WSORR Series in Otwanna, Minnesota. FABTECH's Jesse Jones, CORONA Steve Sourapas, Travis Coyne and Monster Energy's Jeremy McGrath who all ran through the paces successfully here at The Rock.

Supercross Superstar - Jeremy McGrath drove the #71 Pro 2 prepped by Baldwin Racing here at The Rock and shined driving the truck that NASCAR's Robby Gordon drove at the last CORR race.
In the Pro 4 class, Johnny Greaves, Rick Huseman and Scott Douglas were the stars as they got on the race track and ran tight lines among a big class of Pro 4's. John Marking debuted his new Greaves Motorsports Pro 4 and suffered a blown ring-pinion after five laps around The Rock. Adrian Cenni ran fast laps and you can expect him to be fast all weekend long.

The Pro Lite class featured Rob Naughton who stopped and allowed Kyle LeDuc to pull in front of him, in what appeared to be tactics to watch LeDuc's line through the practice sessions. Matt Barney, Casey Currie, Rodrigo Ampudia and many others all ran super fast laps as they will be chasing Naughton and LeDuc for the top spot this weekend.
The Rock features two steep sweeping uphill turns that will test the Pro Lites at speed. Qualifying action begins early evening and we will have results later tonight.
