Robert Naughton RUNS Away From Field for Victory

Los Angeles , Calif., (May 20, 2007) – Rob Naughton ran away from the field even though he was chased by Rodrigo Ampudia, Casey Currie and Kyle LeDuc throughout the race. Naughton gave up no ground in his run for the checkers as he was the big Pro-Lite winner here today at the Los Angeles Fairplex in Pomona, California. Naughton, from Flagstaff, Arizona, wasted no time in establishing a quick lead as the race trucks were brought down the front stretch stock car style...meaning a rolling start. CORR officials announced that the remainder of this weekend they will start the races side-by-side as they do in NASCAR with a rolling start.

Naughton told DIRTnewz on Friday that they were coming to get it done this weekend with plans to make the podium both days.

Challenged by Ampudi, Currie and LeDuc, Naughton was able to hold off charges from each of them after getting out in front. Missing from this field of Pro Lites was the 2005 & 2006 CORR Pro Lite Champions, Jeff Kincaid and Chad Hord respectively. They both decided to race the WSORR race in Otwanna, Minnesota this weekend, which according to all reports was significantly less attendance than the 10,000 + fans that have packed the grandstands at the LA Fairplex - Pomona.

Naughton's win gives him his second victory of the season making it two out of three races so far in the 2007 CORR Series.

Ricky Johnson DOMINATES in Pomona / Renezeder in 2nd / Rob Mac Takes 3rd

Los Angeles , Calif., (May 20, 2007) – It was like we were in the throw-back era as 7-time SuperCross Champion, Ricky Johnson, charged hard and drove the wheels off the #48 Baldwin Racing Pro 2 taking the victory over Carl Renezeder and Rob MacCachren. Both Renezeder and MacCachren made charges but none was enough to catch the smooth-line running Ricky Johnson.

Johnson stayed out to the front by running super clean lines and not making any mistakes after he captured the pole position on Friday among the nation's fastest Pro 2 racers. At the finish line, Johnson jumped up on the roof of his truck and threw his hands into the air doublefisted celebrating his victory.

In the final couple laps, Carl Renezeder had a smoking truck but he was able to hold on and take the all important second place in the race for the series point's championship.

Rob MacCachren had his own problems as he had a significant motor problem as it was apparent that he was not running on all 8-cylinders in his Red Bull Ford Pro 2.

Alan Pflueger, driving the KMC Wheels/BFGoodrich Pro 2, drove hard all race long and put on a big show proving that the so-called rookie CORR racer will be at the front of the field in the very near future.

Pro 2 Race Delayed 1 hour After Carnage in LeMans Start

Los Angeles , Calif., (May 20, 2007) – The Pro 2 race started with a bang here at Pomona and the racers only made it to the front stretch before the wet dirt ended the race with huge carnage and putting Jerry Whechel into the catch fence and broke the K-Rail.

This broken fence and damaged K-Rail has stopped the racing action here at Pomona and we are in a delay with an anticipated restart at 4:30 p.m. The stands are packed and fans are awaiting the return of the nation's top Pro 2 racers to the field here shortly. A slew of race trucks ran to the hot pits and then they were moved to the staging area where they are awaiting a restart. The track is almost cleared and racing action will be back live in approximately 10 minutes. (4:00 p.m.) update.
