The Speed Technologies Team charges into May
Within an 8 day time frame, the Speed Technologies team sponsored by Bully Dog Technologies took part in 3 separate off road racing events and at all 3 had amazing runs and stood atop the podium a number of times.
The 8 day tour kicked off in Arizona for the second weekend of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series. The team rolled in big with 2 Trophy Karts, 2 Unlimited Lites, 2 SuperLite trucks and one Unlimited 2 machine. Highlights after two days of racing for the team were incredible.
Corry Weller drives Bully Dog/ Full Potential SuperLite
As some of you know, I was given an incredible opportunity this past weekend at the Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series, held in Surprise, AZ. After talking with Mike DeFord at BullyDog Technologies off and on since last year, I was offered a last minute, opportunity of a lifetime to not only drive, but RACE one of the coolest little short course race trucks out there - the Full Potential Superlite that is available through Speed Technologies. These little trucks are pretty light, have great suspension, and are powered by a 200HP Mazda rotary engine, which gives them a very unique powerband, similar to a two-stroke motor.
SuperLite races into AZ with thrills and spills SURPRIZE, AZ
Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2009 Bully Dog SuperLite championship have come and gone and what an impact the class has made. 2 days of exciting racing saw a new race winner on top of the podium along with some familiar faces.
Going into the weekend there was a lot of buzz in the pit on Thursday and Friday. There were a few new trucks in the class, the first being the Geico Powersport/E3 Spark Plug truck being driven by Jason Patison and the second truck, sponsored by XDP. This truck was supposed to be driven by Sirius radio personality, Jason Ellis. Unfortunately Jason was unable to make the race in AZ, taking his place behind the wheel would be Corry Weller, a local UTV who has won her fair share of UTV races over the past few years. Maybe the biggest news is that the SuperLite purse had been increased. Bully Dog increased the he payout for each race weekend by 30%, this was done to level the playing field in a way, as more trucks are built, more racers are coming into the class but new racers will be hard pressed to win the year end championship and take that purse. Realizing the powers at SuperLite, Speed Technologies and Bully Dog increased the weekend purse to help everyone out.
